Since 2007, the Embracing Intersectional Diversity Project (EID Project) has been working to open spaces to create critical dialogues around what we ‘see’ and understand about intersectional identities, and the underlying assumptions that surface in the ways we (Canadian society) engage those we perceive to fall/exist outside of our ‘norms’ and ‘values.’
Our work focuses on connecting communities together, and bringing the lived experiences, narratives, knowledge, creativity, and contributions of diverse groups, including queer women of colour, youth of colour, queer youth of colour, trans folks, First Nations and Two-Spirited folks, white allies, and folks living with visible and/or ‘invisible’ disabilities, into the mainstream.
As an organization, the EID Project aims to open spaces for critical intervention/disruption and dialogue around what we ‘see’ and understand about intersectional identities, and the underlying assumptions that surface in our multicultural framework where differences are acknowledged. However, mainstream representations of diversity remain compartmentalized and substantive progressive social change remains elusive.
Mission
We create space for dialogue about intersectional diversity by connecting with folks.

Reflections of Self: Embracing Intersectional Diversity Documentary™
Tomee Sojourner'sevocative documentary, Reflections of Self: Embracing Intersectional Diversity will draw together folks who move in marginalized spaces to share their narratives in order to create new/innovative spaces for critical dialogue around what we ‘see’ and understand about intersectional diversity/identities.
This documentary will take the audience on a sojourn to peel back underlying assumptions about the ways 'mainstream' Canadian society engages with those they perceive to fall/exist outside of their ‘realities.’
Who Do U See? A Youth Perspective on Mixed- Race Identities™
This creative project focuses on the journeys of 'mixed-race' youth as they move through the world as embodied people, questioning and responding to their complex social spaces...school, family, on-line social networks, etc.
